Project History
This section details some of the projects The Network has undertaken
in the past.
Building
Basic Skills in the Workplace Initiative - A £1 million DfES
funded project supporting 32 projects. Managed by The Network (then known
as the Workplace Basic Skills Network). This project ran from August 2000
- July 2001.
Action
research project into literacy, language and numeracy support in construction
for the LSC Black Country - This action research project investigated
the needs of employers and employees in relation to the development of
workplace language, literacy and numeracy (LLN)in the construction sector.
The
Workplace Basic Skills Network in South Yorkshire project - During
2001/2002 The Network (then known as the Workplace Basic Skills Network),
in partnership with Yorkshire Training Partnership (YTP), a consortium
of training providers was funded by Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development
Agency for Yorkshire and Humberside, to undertake a range of professional
capacity building activities for basic skills practitioners and co-ordinators
in South Yorkshire.
Supporting
Entry to Employment (E2E)and workbased learning providers to deliver quality
basic skills project funded by LSC South Yorkshire - This project
took place between October 2003 and July 2004, it involved numerous activities
and events.
SEP
- Social Exclusion Project. Combating Social Exclusion through the Provision
of Workplace Language Programmes.
The
London Regional Workplace Basic Skills Forum - was a project funded
by the London Development Agency from September 2001 – July 2002.
The Network (then known as the Workplace Basic Skills Network) managed
the project in a partnership of key agencies, with 24 full and associate
partners, through the partner forum, steering group and provider advisory
group.
Workplace
Basic Skills Network in Greater Merseyside - This project, which was
funded by the Learning and Skills Council Greater Merseyside Local Initiative
Fund, has aimed to ensure that workplace language, literacy and numeracy
provision in Merseyside is of a high quality and that it has been informed
by regional and national good practice.
Workplace
Basic Skills Network in Lancashire - LSC Lancashire contracted the
Workplace Basic Skills Network to review the impact of Brokers on workplace
basic skills provision in the county.
