The Workplace Basic Skills Network in South Yorkshire

During 2001/2002 The Network (then known as the Workplace Basic Skills Network), in partnership with Yorkshire Training Partnership (YTP), a consortium of training providers, was funded by Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency for Yorkshire and Humberside, to undertake a range of professional capacity building activities for basic skills practitioners and co-ordinators in South Yorkshire. These included:

  • A seminar on workplace basic skills held in Sheffield on 7th March 2002, which included a presentation on the national strategy and the implications for Yorkshire and Humberside.
  • 3 deliveries of the professional development course 'Breaking Down Barriers 1' (BDB1) to membership organisations of YTP.
  • A survey on the professional development needs of the providers of workplace basic skills in South Yorkshire.*

*The findings of the above survey, which highlighted some of the basic skills issues faced by work-based learning providers, are available as a separate report. If you would like more information or a copy of the report please e-mail admin@workplaceLLNnetwork.co.uk
