Opening Doors

The Network has available an exciting resource for those involved in LLN which consists of a video and CD ROM.

The resource, which is entitled Opening Doors, showcases the experiences of learners and tutors involved in LLN programmes delivered in the workplace. It captures stories of their learning journeys and celebrates their achievements. The video lasts approximately eleven minutes and is divided into six sections, each introduced by simple captions:

• Opening Doors – introduction to the learners.
• What have you got out of it?
• How did you get started?
• What was it like?
• What do the employers need to do?
• All pluses – the benefits to the learners in their workplace.

Opening Doors will be a useful resource for tutors thinking about getting started in setting up workplace LLN programmes and for practitioners and brokers planning to promote LLN to employers. A transcript of the video and a booklet containing learner writings accompanies the video and CD ROM (which is based on the video).
