There is an active Skills for Life Workforce Development task group in Kent and Medway which meets every six weeks. The task group is the run in partnership with the Kent and Medway Basic Skills Consortium, through which all Skills for Life activity in Kent and Medway is co-ordinated, funded by the Learning and Skills Council.

Members of the group are from colleges, private training providers, awarding bodies, the LSC and Business Link and meetings are centred around sector specific workplace themes, sharing best practice, and topical issues affecting stakeholders. The group is currently compiling a book of case studies for distribution across the county.

Business Link is also a useful source of information. Recently they have hosted Employer Breakfasts. At these events the Network has raised employer awareness of how LLN needs within an organisation can impact on Customer Service and profit and this has encouraged employers to sign up for LLN training within their companies.
