Setting Up and Running Workplace Language, Literacy and Numeracy Programmes

Please note that while the contents of this website may be of interest to a wider audience, most of the resources, guidance, links and other contents relate to workplace language, literacy and numeracy policy and practice in England.

There is no one right way to run workplace language, literacy and numeracy provision. All approaches depend on specialist skills and knowledge and a flexible planning process. It is important that agencies keen to get involved in this work can provide the necessary expertise and make use of the learning that has gone before.

For employers an Employer Toolkit (Skills for Life: Make it Your Business) is available from the DfES website. It gives an overview of workplace LLN programmes available to organisations and provides details of support products and services. Employers who want in-depth guidance on embedding and delivering Language, Literacy and Numeracy learning within their organisational training strategy will also find useful material in the Vault on this website.
